judgement

My question is, if you've had two beta readers go over your story and tell you it's fine, but you still don't like it, should you post it or just let it rot away on your hard drive?

I suppose it depends on the situation. These beta readers -- do you value their opinions? What do you think of any and/or all stories they've written? Do they normally have good judgement? If you answer yes to all (or most) of these, than I'd probably say yes. On the other hand, if you really feel uncomfortable posting -- because you really, really hate it for some reason -- than I suppose I'd do whatever you felt most comfortable with. It is, in the end, up to you.

I like their work for the most part, yes, and I value their opinions absolutely.

The thing is, they're saying there's nothing WRONG with my story. I'm hating it not because it's terrible, but because it's not what I want it to be. I need someone very, very brutal and thorough to help me figure out how to improve it on a technical level, so that the rest can flesh itself out.

Thanks :)
